Montenegro Boasts Europe's No 1 Beach according to Lonely Planet

Nestled in a cove on the Adriatic Sea, a crescent-shaped beach that remains one of Montenegro's hidden gems has been named the best in Europe.

With more than 400,000 m2 of space to bask in the sun, Jaz Beach topped picturesque settings in Spain, Portugal and Greece to claim the coveted title ahead of the busy summer travel season.

In a study which highlighted Europe's 10 best beaches, according to travel guide Lonely Planet. No 1 was  Jaz Beach, Montenegro

Located near the town of Budva, Jaz Beach is quite popular with Montenegrins, but has a relatively low profile with holidaymakers in Western Europe as it is often overlooked for places that are more 'touristy' or easier to access.

Given the limited availability of direct flights to nearby Tivat Airport (however, there are now Ryanair flights from Stansted to Podgorica and EasyJet Flights to Dubrovnik), it takes a bit of extra effort to reach Jaz Beach, but the trip is well worth it, especially for those who are looking for adventure or a party atmosphere.

Next month, Jaz Beach will host the second annual Sea Dance Festival, which was recognised last year as the best medium-sized festival in Europe.
